Help, Birthday dinner rec's for Plateau/Mile end

Hi,

I need to take my mohter somewhere she hasn't been for her birthday tomorrow night in the Plateau or Mile-End area. Does anyone know of anything new and interesting around the area I can take 10 people to who've probably been to every well known spot in town?
Thanks for the help :)

Not the area you asked but close,

it's in the village, a real gem; not often mentioned in this forum.

Are they now serving dinner? The review in the Hour made it sound like they are sticking to their lunch and brunch schedule but that the bar is open 7 days a week.

Correct - The Sparrow doesn't serve dinner and currently has no plans to. :-( I know because I emailed recently to ask this very question. They unveiled a new "snack menu" for the bar this week, but that's all.

                  2. L'Inconnu? (very under-rated and the name at least suits your request)
La Fabrique? (haven't tried and suspect it is not up my alley, but might meet your criteria)
Zero8? (sounds dreadful, but some people might find it interesting)
