I know this is a tough request but is there a good restaurant (no Chains or BBQ) in the area?

Years ago there use to be John's steak house which was pretty good just off I-95. I think it is gone now though.

Lots of taquerias down that way- Lumberton and St. Pauls. The people who own one place I've eaten at in Wilson with good results also own Los Molcajetes in Lumberton. You might try that.

Fuller's in Lumberton. It's country cooking done real well. They have an extensive buffet and all of it is freshly made. It's called "Fuller's BBQ," but trust me, no one actually goes there for the BBQ.

Fuller's buffet is excellent. It's the only place I've eaten in Lumberton.
