SAZON on Washington - closed?

I recently saw an urgent post asking that hounds go there - that the place was suffering from a lack of business. I tried calling a couple of times - are they gone? If so, I'm sad I nevergot a chance to go, but sadder still for the proprietors of what seemed to be a wonderful place.

  1. I ate there a couple of weeks ago - no hint of them closing at that time...

    1. I know you posted a while ago, but I just ate there today for the first time and had to comment on how FANTASTIC it was! I think DOMMY posted awhile ago, and his comments on the place really made me want to go so I went there with some co-workers and had a wonderful lunch. The owner, Claudia was serving. She was so lovely, one of those people you really want to see succeed!

      Anyway, we started off with Agua Frescas - Cantelope that was lightly spiced with cinnamon, and I had Pineapple.....which wasn't too sweet and tinted GREEN. When I asked why it was green she said she puts SPINACH in it. It was DELICIOUS.

      Then we had the empanadas- so light, so tasty, I thought it was way better than the Argentinian - Empanada place on Sawtelle. We also had tostones with a garlic oil dip. I could've drank the garlic dip with a straw.

      I ordered the Monfongos de Camerones and loved it. My friends ordered mole and the pollo saltado. Instead of serving on fries, it was served on boiled potatoes...which tasted even better than fries because the potatoes soaked up the delicious soy sauce and wine sauce so perfectly.

      I can't believe I waited this long to eat there, I am definitely going to become a regular!

        I love this place, so glad you enjoyed it. I wish I lived closer, I would go more often. Those shrimp, yummmmmmm, and the empanadasdelicious!

          Like "Lynndsey Rigberg," I was there Friday night and had a fine meal. One of the nice things is Claudia the chef/owner is really good about asking what you'd be interested in having/trying. I've only started going there recently, so I'm still going through the menu but I'm pretty indecisive so her information/suggestions are so helpful. She's got a light touch on the salt and sugar so it's all pretty healthy too. Sure
          makes healthy eating not so "painful."
