Nutella became grainy from refrigeration. Fix?
I put an opened jar of Nutella in the frig...apparently a no-no! It became quite grainy. Can this be fixed, or should I toss it? My first thought was to warm it in the microwave (as one might do with preserves or honey which become granular), but the Nutella website FAQ warns against "excessive heat". Any ideas?
I don't know if microwaving it will help the graininess but don't be afraid of heat. I make a dessert where I stuff a banana with nutella (then top w/chopped hazelnuts & mini marshmallows!) & wrap it in foil & put it on the grill---it gets good & hot & melty. so no problemwith heat. why not try it with a little bit for a short time in the micro? or try putting the jar in a pan of hot water & stirring.
Have you tried leaving it out in room temperature for a few days and then judging from the results from then on?
