Smashburger comes to Des Moines

Normally I wouldn't care about another fast food burger place, but I read that they are serving a Des Moines Smashburger that uses Maytag Blue Cheese. The price of Maytag has risen drastically the last year or so, so I'll be curious about the quantity and price. Aside from that, do they offer local ingredients on their burgers everywhere? Is the rest of the burger good enough to make it worth trying?

I don't know about local ingredients, and I've never been to one, but Smashburger came to Houston recently and they get great reviews. Check out the Houston Press, or B4ueat, categories hamburgers, for more info.

I love Smashburger which started here in Colorado when I want a burger. Try their veggie frites. You might do a search on the Southwest board as it's been reviewed there.

We're getting a couple in the Dayton, Ohio area shortly, including one opening on October 15. Somehow they beat Five Guys and Fat Burger into this area. I'd love to see veggie frites on the menu here.

You might be interested in knowing 5 guys is exploring openning a location in the UD/Brown St. area in Dayton. Nothing concrete yet, but I understand their looking to locate near Dewey's Pizza.
