In San Diego Oct. 9-11.
I will be in San Diego for the weekend. It will be the continued celebration of my 30th birthday. I'm looking for two nice dinners and two lunches. Breakfast I already have figured out. I will be staying at the hotel Solamar. It's been a while since I've been in San Diego, the last time I was there I had a wonderful meal at a restaurant called Region--part of the slow food movement, would love to find a restaurant like Region. Any help would be much appreciated.

Looking for anything in particular? Will you be restricted to the Solamar area? Just celebrated my ladies' 28th at J-bar this past weekend, nice place.

Unfortunately Region closed a while back, but for similar principles, there is always the linkery (gets mixed reviews but many love it), starlite lounge, georges(doesnt make a fuss, but he does get much of his veggies from local chino farm), sea rocket bistro. Also wander up the hill to the little italy farmers market on the Saturday morning and I'm sure you could assemble a lovely picnic from local ingredients. Thats not extensive, but some ideas.

One of your best bets for a Region-like meal is in you hotel :-). Try JSix, the chef is a big proponent of sustainable, local and organic. Food's good too.

Since you'll be staying downtown, do try to have lunch or dinner at Cafe Chloe. It's one of the true gems in San Diego!

Really enjoy Jsix at the Hotel Solamar...dinner
Cafe Chloe is excellent too..great for lunch
George's at the Cove in La Jolla would be a fun place for your birthday..on the terrace for lunch or dinner overlooking the Pacific ocean.
Market in Del Mar for dinner.
Hit up 30th street in North Park for a myriad of fun great restaurants.
