In search of the creamiest, best rice pudding. I prefer it w/o raisins but will try any that is creamy and perfectly made. Prefer LA/Valley, but will travel to OC if it's to-die-for!

Tapioca suggestions appreciated as well.

Table shared a slice of yummy tapioca pie at the Grill on Xmas eve.

The best rice pudding was at the late Rox at Pico & Bev. in what's now a Loews hotel. We used to order it for pickup.

This has been a constant search for me...and it depends on the type of rice pudding you seek! For a non-custard based pudding, I go to the deli at Vincente Food in Brentwood...very very good. The rice pudding served at Juniors on Westwood Blvd. can be excellent. Also, try some Indian restaurants for their rice puddings...different and they can be quite delicious! I like the one served at Nizam on Pico Blvd. near Westside Pavillion. Many years ago the "old" Spago served a dark chocolate risotto...creamy and decadent! They may still be able to make it?

About 20 years ago, my mother got a recipe from The Grill for their famous rice pudding, so I assumed that the Grill in Hollywood would have it on their menu and I was surprised to see they didn't when i was there last month. Might see if the Grill (BH) has it on their menu. Or maybe it's one of those "off the menu" things you have to ask for like Chasen's chili.

I am new to rice pudding this year and all of my favorite versions have been at Indian restaurants. They have all been different but all have been wonderful. My first taste was in Germany at an Indian restaurant. It was part of my Thali dinner and so I had to at least try it. After that, I was hooked. I am going now to see Neta's recipe.
