ISO Good Raw Oysters on the Westside (that won't break the bank)

We're looking for a place a la Acme Oyster House in the French Quarter in New Orleans to satisfy a craving for lots and lots of fresh oysters on the half shell (talkin' at least a couple of dozens) at an affordable price (would jump at $1/oyster but would settle for something under $ that unrealistic?). Been to Ocean Ave. and the Sat. Santa Monica farmer's market on Arizona...but am hoping to find something cheaper so that we could eat to our hearts' content.

  1. Well, it's definately "west" as opposed to "east," but it's also south. Take thee to Quality Seafood on the Redondo Beach pier. Always at least 25 different oysters live in the salt water tanks. IIRC, all are under $2, but usually $1.85 or $1.95. Also live uni, too.

Thanks! I do go down to Captain Kidd's from time to time for fresh steamed I'll have to add Quality Seafood to the itinerary.

    2. Ocean Ave is your best bet that happy hour is a pretty good deal, maybe santa monica seafood

agreed. ocean ave seafood during HH is your best bet.

      2. Okay, not the westside but--Kendall's at the music center has a late night happy hour 8-10 Tues- Sun with oysters at $2 each--
You could always go to fish king in glendale and have them shuck them for you. Delish!

awesome thanks for the kendall's tip since I live in L.F. and Ocean is a treck.

        2. Is the western side of West Hollywood too far East ?

The Palm - West Hollywood ~ Has a "Prime Time" (aka "happy hour") 5 to 7 & after 9 M-F, with oysters for $1.00. Don't how good they are, or if there is a limitation like 6 per customer. So call first to verify what the real deal is:
