Max Burger-West Hartford Center

Holler!
My SO and I got to check out Max Burger in West Hartford Center yesterday. It was a beautiful day and early enough to not have to wait for a table (3pm on a Sunday). Let me just say...I LOVED MY MEAL!
First off...it's not cheap so if that's what you're looking for in a burgery meal nearby you could do cheaper maybe at The Counter Burger in nearby Blue Back Square. But, Max's is Max's and nothing is "cheap" at their places. With that said...let me gush about my meal. I'm not a huge ground beef girl so I was slightly cautious when navigating the menu at a place that's meant for burgers. There were so many non-burger options though that I felt safe ordering something else. I had the Pulled Pork Sandwich and it was AWESOME. It comes with two (yes 2) buttered and grilled hamburger buns, a large bowl of pork topped with slices of red onions, a lil stack of pickles (couldn't tell what kind but they were good) and some yummy cole slaw. Hence, you build your sandwiches. I'm pretty tiny and I made and ate both of them and still had plenty of pork to fork up and eat out of the bow. It was wicked good.

I also tried the "Fatty Melt" which is what my SO had. That's the burger sammiched between two grilled cheese sammies. My goodness...it was big but the meat was good and juicy. She could only eat half of it and I was swatting her hand away from my pork. Ha ha!

So, two orders of food, two sodas...and it was $30 not including tip. Pricey but you know you're going to eat good food.
Check it out.

I have eaten here several times. I think that the burgers beat Counter Burger and the burger place on Park Road. A salad is one of the options for the sides and it is good. The eggplant fries are usually good too. I usually order the smaller burger, because the 8 ounce burger is too big for me. I and my companions have also enjoyed other choices on the menu.

My son and I just had lunch there today. The atmosphere was really nice, the service was great, and the food was terrific. And to top it off, our final bill was less than we spent at The Counter. The only downers were the Max Salad (not enough dressing) and the parking (it took me 1/2 hour to find a spot, probably b/c tomorrow is Celebrate West Hartford). It's like a larger, hipper Plan B. So now Plan B is our plan b if Max's is full.

HA HA, good call--so Max trumps Plan B (you know I love Plan B!), eh? Nice to know. I will get there eventually. What did you have? :)

Son had the 8oz. beef hb on the fancy roll (med-rare) w/lettuce and swiss. I had the 5oz beef hb w/grilled onions and Gruyere on the potato roll (pinch mayo, dab ketchup, dab yellow mustard). Both burgers were perfectly med-rare and delicious. I had the (boring) Max side salad instead of fries...and it comes w/a bunch of sweet pickle slices. Son had the sweet potato fries that I ate when he wasn't looking. Gosh they were good! We sat outside under a lovely umbrella. The chairs are really comfy, also. I like the decor, especially the lovely photographs of the happy cows and the wood accents.

To be honest, one of the cool things about this restaurant (aside from the happy vibes) is the varied menu. I vowed to return for the iceberg wedge (I know, I know...) and about 100 other menu items that all sounded good. The special of the day was a lobster burger (!). If the rain lets up, stop by Celebrate W.H. and give it a try.
