Peter Pan donuts in Greenpoint are my favorite donuts in NYC. I do prefer the ones I get in LA, but for NYC, it's arguably as good as it gets.

It's so sad that while, Peter Pan has great donuts, that one has to go all the way to Brooklyn to get a donut of the quality that my humble little neighborhood bakery, Franklin Bakery (r.i.p.), routinely made back in the 70s-80s.

I wanted to send you this link. You have to try these donuts- they have them at the Long Island City Farmers Market and their website has some other farmer's markets. I think I've also seen them at the Corona Farmer's Market on Fridays but don't know if they have them on that day.

In my experience NYC is a bagel town! LA is a donut town.

Paneantico, a delightful Italian cafe in Bay Ridge owned by the great bread bakery Royal Crown, has an OUTSTANDING yeast-raised sugared twist--One of the Truly Great Doughnuts--but not every day. Sundays are a good bet, I think.
