Cooking classes in Savannah and Charleston...

Does anyone have suggestions for a good class to take while in Savannah and Charleston? I would like to learn more about local food and a foodie tour would be nice, too.

Has anyone been to Chef Joe Randall cooking classes in Savannah? Thanks for the tip on Mavericks, OurGreatEscape. They have great availability and good prices.

        Sarah, my dear,relax!

As much as I agree with my friend OurGreatEscape, because she knows, I think you should just go eat. It's the best way to learn how to cook.

Sarah, for Savannah, I've taken classes at The Mansion on Forsyth Park. You can get additional info at www.mansiononforsythpark.com - there's a link to their cooking classes on the left. The Mansion is a truly wonderful hotel and I would easily recommend it as a place to stay

I know that Kitchenware Outfitters (http://www.kitchenwareoutfitters.com) out Abercorn Street on the mid-town/southside offers classes. They have different working chefs and caterers come in to teach, but their website doesn't appear to have anything scheduled in the near term. You might try calling them to see what's available.

I've never taken a class from Chef Joe Randall, but I've always understood his classes to be more demonstration cooking rather than hands on, if that matters. Check him out at http://www.chefjoerandall.com

Thank you, Sue! I was beginning to think about doing just that!
