Subbing Lobster for Crab

BabyLitigator Sep 20, 2009 03:35 PM

Kind of an odd question. Making a recipe for cold tomato soup with lump crabmeat. Oddly, I've been finding that fresh lump lobster meat is substantially cheaper than lump crab meat in my area (very odd result of the financial crisis).

Can I sub lobster for crab?

Absolutely! The lobster might be in larger pieces which you can chop up if you feel it is warranted.

Generally, lobster is not as tender as crab, so I'd chop it rather fine. The flavor should work well.
