Does anyone know where to find a good charlotte russe in Boston? Looking for answers ASAP. Thank you!

    Dear Josh,
Consider calling Japonaise bakery (two locations), and perhaps you can special order one? Not the quickest, I guess, but they're certainly accustomed to working with fruit, gelatin and whatever cake-ish you prefer.
    Tell Donna hi.

Ahhh, my lost youth. Have never had anything even resembling a CR here in Boston.

Cassis Bakery in Beverly does if you can't find one in Boston.

Not embarrassed to admit that I thought this thread was about the female clothing store at the mall, until I Google Charlotte Russe, and learned that it's a dessert. Wow.

do let us know if you found one. You just pushed my childhood button: in Brooklyn, this was the drug of choice in the forties and fifties. You can even find it referenced in A Stone for Danny Fisher. Mmm....all that whipped cream, in a little hat, on a little bit of sponge cake, with that perky cherry on top.

I grew up in Brooklyn too and I rememember sheets of them in the window -surprisingly at pizza parlors on Nostrand Avenue. I remember lots of whipped cream and the cherry on top - and not much else. Have never seen them afain though.

Now now, you Brooklynites; I used to find them in a bakery on 207th street about a block off Broadway in Manhattan... course the last time I had one was 1980something.

Isn't that where manny ramirez grew up? But sticking to the topic, I hav not even seen a Charlotte Russe since we moved out of Crown Heights in 1961. the place in Beverly posted by Infomaniac sounds intriguing though.

I used to fish for stripers on the Hudson River at around 79th street.

But to keep chowcentric on getting deleted, where in Boston can I find fresh striped bass this time of year?

That's funny, I lived in the North End for 8 years and used to fish for stripers in the Harbor near the tennis courts. I've also done it in Manhattan on 125th street.
