College Football Brunch in Phoenix

bluedesert Sep 18, 2009 12:03 PM

New arrival in Phoenix, looking for a good restaurant or sports bar that is open and serving food at 9AM for east coast college football. It'd be great if it had good food (and served breakfast). Any suggestions?

I can't help with the breakfast, but if you just want to see the games, a great many teams here have meetups for their alumni, so you could find out which team plays early and just crash one of their get togethers. For example, last week the Gators played at 9am, so the Desert Gators had Jilly's in Chandler and Fox Sports Grill in Phoenix open. But they just serve the regular menu, no breakfast offerings. And, of course, most of the TV's are tuned to the team of choice, and you may have to put up with lots of obnoxious fans. :)

I dont know what part of town your'e in? Brennan's Mexican Cantina on Thunderbird and Scottsdale Rd opens early....8:00 am. They don't have an expansive breakfast menu...though they have the basics (pancakes, eggs, bacon, sausage, burritos, home fries) and my favorite: 2 cheese enchiladas...w homemade red sauce and 2 over easy eggs on top w/ a $1 bloody Mary! A great way to kick off the Game Day! They show many of the College Games!

Half Moon Sports Grill used to open for Sunday football brunch -- I have posted before about their amusing $5 "Bucket O Bacon." Two Phx locations.

If you can hold off until ten, Four Peaks will be open. Great food, a great many TVs, all tuned to games on Sundays.

As usual, I second 4 peaks, totally underrated breakfast/brunch. And, they serve their whole menu starting early.

I believe Teakwoods Tavern at Indian School & 28th opens early and had lots of tv's for games.

Baseline Sports Bar in Tempe opens at 9am & offers a decent breakfast menu. They do host the Penn State alumni group- so if your game is on at the same time, they aren't your best choice.

RTO'Sullivans in Mesa is open at 9 & serves breakfast. They also have a west side location, but I don't know if they do breakfast.

I love 4 Peaks (Tempe), but I don't think they do breakfast on Saturday, only Sunday.

Catch 22 in N Phx is open at 9am, they did breakfast last year, but I'm not sure about this year.

Do you have a fave team? I ask because a number of sports bars have been adopted by fans of a particular team - or the owner is an alumni and rolls out the red carpet.
