<content>I'm a NY hound travelling to Laguna Nigel in May. I would greatly appreciate any restaurant suggestions (upscale and downscale) in the area, including Mexican. Thanks in advance!</content>

<content>Laguna Niguel is still rather new (as compared to Los Angeles), but has a more than just a few good places.

I will name just a few (not to Bogart the board)

DINNER:
Savannah Chop House
32441 Golden Lantern, Laguna Niguel
949/493-7107
http://www.culinaryadventures.com/Pages/Savannah.html

Mirabeau French Cusine
17 Monarch Bay Plaza, Dana Point
(Actually, just off of Laguna Niguel's Crown Valley Parkway near PCH)
949/234-1679

CASUAL BREAKFAST (or even lunch):
Mimi's Cafe (a very good chain)
27430 La Paz Road, Laguna Niguel
949/643-0206
http://www.mimiscafe.com/

LUNCH:
Cafe Neff
23811 Aliso Creek Road, Laguna Niguel
(It's in a private Design Center, so call first)
(949) 831-9464

Apples-A-Day Health Food
30262 Crown Valley Pkwy, Laguna Niguel
949/495-3250

BBQ:
Real BBQ/Clayton Shurley's
26741 Aliso Creek Road, Aliso Viejo
(949) 389-0320
(in a huge shopping center, but next to/closetst to the Edwards Theater there)
(although some members of CBBQA have removed their Newport Beach recommendation a few months ago-it's still the best you'll find in OC)
Menu at http://holyjoe.net/hhc2003/bbq.htm

JUST OUTSIDE OF LAGUNA NIGUEL:

King's Fish House (very good chain)
24001 Avenida de la Carlota, Laguna Hills
949/586-1515
http://www.kingsfishhouse.com/

Harbor Grill in Dana Point Harbor (not far from Laguna Niguel)
http://www.harborgrill.com/

And, Laguna Beach (enter from Laguna Niguel on Crown Valley Pkwy at PCH) has many wonderful choices.

And, there are a few great choices in nearby San Juan Capistrano.

Let us know if you want to explore those nearby areas.</content>

<content>In addition, I would strongly suggest you visit The Montage Resort and Spa in Laguna Beach while you're here. It's rather new and even going to expand a new business across the highway where the Aliso Creek golf course is now. And, it's expensive, but compared to NY!!!! Note: Tasting menu is about $110 without wine.

For the best view and walking grounds, wonderful Lobby Lounge Bar with piano, and incomparable, ever-changing tasting menu at the Studio (and The Loft restaurant and Mosaic Bar and Grill ain't bad either!) Hope the weather is nice enough for a full day tour.
