Coming to Chicago this weekend
Hello. My bf and I want to make a reservation for dinner on Sunday night. We are staying at the Avenue Hotel and are hoping for somewhere within walking distance. A friend suggested Bistro 110 or Bistro Zinc. Any opionions on these? We are open to anything, as long as an entree isn't more than about $25 - $30. During the week we will try hotdogs and pizza and such, but on Sunday we are hoping for a yummy sit down place. Thanks so much!

Bistro 110 used to be wonderful, but no longer. I also don't love Bistro Zinc. If you are looking for French, I would consider either Kiki's Bistro or Sardine. Both would require a short cab ride, but both have much better food and are well within your budget.
If it's walking from the hotel that is your primary criterion, consider Spiaggia Cafe, Coco Pazzo Cafe, Eve, or Pane Caldo.

I would pick Bistrot Zinc. Haven't been to Bistro 110 in a while, and i've heard that the quality has gone down. I also prefer their heavier dishes there, which i'm not sure is appropriate for a nice summer evening.
Bistrot Zinc on the other hand has solid traditional bistro fare. They also have the monthly specials menu, which i like for variety. Prices are within what you are looking for (in both places). If you sit by the window, there's a fun view of people traffic on Rush and State. If you sit in the back, it could be intimate and romantic.
