I found one new (to me) source for pistachio butter and one additional website for the same source.

    Fastachi
    http://www.fastachi.com/product/pistachio_butter/nut_butter

    Superior Nut Company
    http://www.superiornutstore.com/fresh-pistachio-butter.html
(This and the following site seem to be the same company; the two sites have different prices for what appears to be the same product. http://www.nutsinbulk.com/fresh-pista...)

I've bought it before at the Friday market in Downtown Oakland. Wonderful green color and intense taste. It's sold by an older couple that carry a variety of nuts.

I love pistachio butter but find very few sources for it. My favorite was from Mendocino Jams & Preserves in Mendocino but they stopped carrying it a few years ago. Here are some sources I've found. They're all different, so try them all and see which one you like best. I still miss the great departed one from Mendocino Jams & Preserves.

        Happy Nuts Farm (mentioned above)
Marin Farmers' Market (the last time I noticed)

        Fiddyment Farms
        5000 Fiddyment Road
        Roseville, Calif. 95678
        916-771-0800 or 800-859-4038

        Futters Nut Butters
        P.O.Box 4934
        Buffalo Grove, Illinois 60089
        877-772-2155 (toll free outside Illinois)

I just found a new one:

The next time you're there, I'd sure appreciate it you'd get their info (name, phone, etc.) and post it here.

I went last Friday and the place referred to is Dewey Farms, from Yolo. I bought a jar of their pistachio butter and just opened it tonight. Oh boy, it is really really good. In fact, my taste and visual memory banks are betting that this is where Mendocino Jams & Preserves got their pistachio butter until they stopped selling it. If you like pistachio butter, go get this one. Here's an article about Dewey Farms.

I noticed that the newspaper article linked to above is no longer online. Here's as much information has I have for Dewey Farms.

Just curious. What's it used for?

            >What's it used for?<

            Eating!

My sister asked me the same thing after I sent her a jar of pistachio butter from Mendocino Jams & Preserves (my favorite, but they stopped carrying it a few years ago). That was my answer to her. I've found that people either love it or just don't "get it" at all.

Check the Food Mill in Oakland [MacArthur Blvd., a few blocks west of 35th Ave.]

There's a pistachio vendor at some farmers markets that sells some great butter. Happy Nuts Farm?
