Blue Ridge Dairy

DevinG Sep 17, 2009 11:49 AM

I had to move out of the DC area and am craving the mozzarella from Blue Ridge Dairy. Do they do mail order? Does anybody know how I can get some in Southern California (San Diego)?

I love Blue Ridge's cheeses! Maybe they can overnight the mozz. to you, but it's really so delicate and doesn't last long even w/o traveling. You can get it at WF around here too, but I'd rather pay them directly at the markets, yk?

I think you're going to have to contact them about overnighting it to you. Check them out at : http://www.brdairy.com/

      I love their Feta.

i love their feta, butter, mascarpone and their mozz!

but i think their "feta" is not sheep's milk, but entirely jersey cows' milk. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Feta

I thought, so, as I think they're a strictly bovine operation. I'm curious about the "Ricotta Vaniglia" shown on their site. Agree about their Mozz, both smoked and non, have yet to try their butter.

For a while they had a drive-up window at their facility in Leesburg, which was in a funky little industrial park. It was a pretty wacky way to buy world-class mozz.

The ricotta vaniglia is very good. We ate alot of it this summer with fresh berries.

I called him, but he won't send anything. Any other thoughts?

heck, you're going to california? i'm certain that you'll find gazillions of fabulous happy cow cheeses out there! go on the l.a. board and ask for local faves.

I agree, their ricotta is excellent. I have purchased many tubs from BR stands at area farmer's market (esp. Falls Church on Saturday) this summer.
