Best Cuban Choices?

Will be in Miami, FIU main Campus area next week. Staying nearby. Looking at various Cuban options for one night dinner. Molina's Ranch over on East 8th Ave, or Isla Canarias on NW 27th, or Casa larios on W Flagler. Any local Chowhounds been to anyof these recently?

Also want to try the fritas...so is traveling over to El Mago De Las Fritas on SW 8th St.El Rey worth the time versus De Las Fritas across the street from FIU?

Thanks for your opinions.

    El Palacio De Los Jugos

    14300 SW 8th St
    Miami, FL 33184-3102
    (305) 221-1616

    This place is a MECCA!
I'm stuck here in Tampa and it's killing me!

It's set up like a food market in a Cuban village, with different areas doing different things...
A big covered area outside with lots of tables to eat your food and drink your Cafe con leche...

    You will freak out!

If I lived in the area I swear to God I'd go every day!

The food is delicious, and the selection in all the different areas is incomparable...

      Mild Bill,

Yep this sounds like a winner.

      Taiga,

Versailles is a BTDT2MT. Looking for something else. but thanks for mentioning it.

BTW dives are great when you're dining alone.

Yes, definitely drive to El Mago, it's worth it. Islas Canarias on NW 27th is a drive, the one on Coral Way and SW 137th would be closer. Plus it has amazing croquetas.

I'd go to the well -- Versailles -- even though the other suggestions are interesting. El Palacio de Los Jugos is perfect if you enjoy dives.
