The best steamed dumplings around downtown LA?

burp_excuzme Sep 17, 2009 03:09 AM

I'm seriously craving some good dumplings. Xiao long baos, or har gows, or any type of dumplings, even pierogis. Anybody know if there's a good dumpling place in the downtown area?

About 8 miles to Luscious Dumplings: http://chowhound.chow.com/topics/597943 or 12 miles to Din Tai Fung http://www.dintaifungusa.com/ (both places are NE of downtown) unless something like mandu would suffice? In that case there are much closer places which specialize in Korean dumplings which are in close proximity to downtown LA (see this link to a review in the Los Angeles Times for a place with several locations around Los Angeles http://www.calendarlive.com/dining/10... - closest to downtown may be the location at 429 N Western Ave. LA, CA 90004 323-468-3839 (just north of Beverly Blvd. on the west side of the street).

CBS Seafood in Chinatown has good har gow.

CBS Seafood, 700 N. Spring St., Chinatown has a large variety of very good dim sum including har gow.

I like Ocean Seafood on Spring Street. Good food. Short wait time. Good service. Easy Parking.

You mean Hill St. While Ocean offers decent cart service, I find their items too greasy.
