Need a good, resonably prices ROmANTIC restaurant with decent sized portions, please help!
Hi!
My hubby and I are coming to NYC on November. I am coming for work but we are trying to have a nice, romantic night out on the town. I would like it not to cost hundreds of dollars for dinner, but even more so I would like to not pay a large sum for dinner and have him come away hungry! He is a big boy 6'6" and muscular and needs to be fed! Especially since I am dragging him to see Phantom afterwards :) Any recommendations would be great!

If you could answer three questions we can give you much better direction:
1. Any cuisine preferences? Is there anything to stay away from?
2. Could you be more specific on your budget? What is the most you would like to pay including/ excluding alcohol.
3. Are you looking to venture out into the city, or do you want to stay around the theater district?›6 Replies-

re: Spends Rent on Food
We are staying in the upper westside, but I don't have a preference as to what part of town the restaurant is in. Just so I can get to theater by 8pm. I am willing to spend up to $150 on dinner and this is for food/tax/tip, neither of us drink alcohol. I don't mind if it even goes over that a bit if they have sizable portions. I just don't want him to come away hungry after spending that kind of money on food :) Also no preference on type of cuisine

re: ChefJune
Hi - is Gascogne the reincarnation of the restaurant (same name I think) that the woman who owns/runs D'Artagnion had on the east side in midtown years ago? The menu looks very similar. I really liked that place and used to eat there when I was in the City - then one year it was gone. I would be happy to hear that it is back and good.

re: Fiona
No, Gascogne opened long before D'Artagnan (same name as the company) had its short run. The menu looks similar because it, like the defunct restaurant, focuses on the cuisine of the eponymous French region. In terms of ambiance, it is nothing like the other's. Gascogne is small with charming decor, and it has one of the loveliest back gardens in the city. It is one of our favorite restaurants.
We had several very enyoyable meals at D'Artagnan and, like you. were sorry when the owner, Arianne Daguin (who is quite a character) decided to close it.
