Looking for good food in the $50-60 a person range in the theater district. Something on 8th ave would be great. Have tried Uncle Nick's, Marseilles, and Casa ???. Would like something new. Pre fixe would be great.

We just ate at Toloache, it was excellent. My husband lived in Mexico for 10 years and said this is the closest to being there. The atmosphere was lovely as well as the hosts. I highly reccomend. Stay away from B.Smiths, was there Saturday it was gross.

Actually, it was LeahBaila who turned me on to Toloache, for which I will be eternally grateful. Don't miss the jalapeno, cucumber margarita.

:) Awe, really? Glad I could be of service. Now I must return to try the jalapeno-cucumber margarita!!

Funny, I've heard that 5 Napkin has a killer lobster roll.

5 napkin is great - I love the bacon cheddar burger with a side of pickles (annoyingly, it doesn't come with pickles but they're so good I always order anyway). They also have very good wings and a nice beer and whiskey menu.

          2. What do you recommend ordering at Toloache and how much for 2 people?

We ordered the Guacamole, it was delicious, nice and chunky. Also the caso fundido as appetizers. I had Chicken echiladas with Mole sauce, the best Mole ever....My husband had Carnitas de lechon, flavorful and delicate. We had a drink each, Coffee and Mexican Hot Chocolate and 1 dessert. It ran about 110.00 before tip. Well worth it ,we still tqlk about the meal. Also, the waitress was the best.

Guac is quite good, as are the tilapia tacos. Don't miss the jalapeno, cucumber margarita.
