Best cheesesteak in Fairfield County?

I'm looking for the best cheesesteak in the area. Anyone have any suggestions?

    1. I actually like Super Duper Weenie's cheesesteak.

      1. LW1 has the best idea.

HOWEVER...if you are stuck without a ride, try the Philly Cheesesteak at BJ Ryan's. They actually use real steak...not frozen Steak-Umm (Wedge Inn, Pat's Hubba-Hubba, Rinaldi's), not sliced, dry Roast Beef (Uncle's Deli is the WORST offender).

While BJ Ryan's is not authentic (I don't think you can order one wit' wiz), it's not bad.

But seriously consider taking LW1's advice.

Agreed. Uncle Deli's is decent for several things. their version of a cheesesteak is not one of them.
There is a place called Philly's in the lower east side which is not bad, but seriously, once you've driven an hour to get there, keep going.

Rinaldi's in the Western End of Greenwich makes an awesome cheesesteak...i was just in Philly this weekend and i was extremely dissapointed in their cheesesteaks...i went to Pats and Geno's and thought there were tons of places around Fairfield Cnty that make better cheesesteaks than Philly.

When I visited Philly a while back I had 3 cheesesteaks: Pats, Genos, and some random local diner.
The local diner was WAY better than Pats or Genos.
And I still stand behind super duper weenie as one of the best secrets anywhere.

Folks, our goal is to keep this board focused on sharing tips specific to the Tristate area. Philadelphia is a bit our of bounds for this board, so please, if you'd like to start a Philly-oriented discussion, use the Philadelphia board.

        2. Bagelz at 280 Connecticut Avenue in Norwalk makes a really good cheesesteak, both in wedge and wrap form. they use fresh rib-eye, and have a Middle eastern hot sauce that is the bomb!!!

You know, that's the fourth or fifth time I've heard that place being mentioned as having great steaks....I will have to give it a shot next time I'm around there. It's in the same shopping plaza as Rowley's Tavern, right?

          2. I love Super Duper Weenie's Philly too (even though its served on a Portuguese roll and lacks mushrooms), but the BEST is from Joe's Steaks- in a little building attached to the front of Home Depot on Reservoir Ave- omg delicious- fresh portabellas! Maybe not authentic "Philly style", but outstanding nonetheless. Great sausage and peppers. too.
