Boston is not that strong on Jewish bakeries. You've basically got Kupel's and Rosenfeld's. Both have their strengths.

Give Cheryl Ann's in Chestnut Hill a call. Best known for their (not to everyone's taste) challah but they have most other traditional Jewish baked goods too- and I think they're great. Very close to Newton. Call ahead- it will be crazy over there.
