The Great Bran Muffin Hunt

Hi Chicago Hounds,

I just moved to the area and, so far, my search for a great bran muffin -- rich flavor, branny texture, not overly dense -- has come up dry (so to speak), both on this board and out in the world. Even the gargantuan Whole Foods in Lincoln Park is strangely lacking. Any suggestions?

I live in Logan Square but love the muffins in a serious way, and am happy to travel for good bran.

Have you tried Ren Hen on Milwaukee?

I haven't yet, but I will soon - and will report back. Thanks!

When I lived in Philadelphia years ago, I loved the bran muffins at Vie de France. I gather that they have only one outlet around here now, in the Woodfield Mall, which I haven't been to -- and it's not exactly handy to Logan Square. But the muffins were seriously flavorful in those days -- good luck!
