Moderately priced romantic dinner suggestions near Mesa
My sister's birthday is in a few weeks, and she has recently moved to Mesa, AZ.
Could someone suggest a few places I can contact regarding purchasing a gift certificate for her birthday. So that she and her husband could go out for a romantic night... I'm hoping to spend around $60 plus tip.....

re: pmeacombs
The area you mention (Baseline & Sossaman) is packed full of chains, and few independents that I can think of. However, being very near highways 60 and loop 202, that gives some easy access to good options.
If they like Indian, Guru Palace is a nice choice, and just down the 60 at Gilbert Road. Their dining room is very nice (romantic, even), and there's one table tucked away in the corner where you sit on pillows at a low table and dine in a semi private area. If you like that sort of thing. (sorry, link not working)
Up the 202 at Power & McDowell is D'Vine Wine Bistro which is a nice little spot. That might be stretching the budget, depending on how much they like wine. (sorry, link not working)Caffe Boa is on Mill in Tempe, and another great option. Not sure it's high on the "romance" (but I have only been there during work happy hours), but the food is very good.
Near Caffe Boa in Tempe is House of Tricks --- very romantic, great food, but may stretch the budget, depending.

The area she posted was actually Baseline/Dobson.
There is also a Caffe Boa in Ahwatukee at Elliott/48th St. While the strip mall it is located in leaves much to be desired, the interior is nicely decorated and fairly romantic in setup from what I remembered. I haven't been there in awhile though. Did enjoy the food at the Mill Avenue location better, though it could have been partially due to sitting the lovely patio there (which just set a nice mood and made everything taste even better). ;)

re: Jen76
WE have never had a good meal at the Caffe Boa in Ahwatukee. When we first moved here years back we were dragged there several times by people we met. After one too many bad meals we swore off for years but just a few months ago were talked into going again with some friends of ours. Still terrible. Overcooked food, gloppy sauces, uninspired menu that has cream in almost every damn item. I don't understand how they stay in business!
The Mill Ave location is unaffiliated and 100 times better.
For the OP I still recommend Tutti Santi - it's nearby, the food is great, the atmosphere good for a date night and your budget should allow them a nice meal as long as they don't go overboard with wine.

Do you know where in Mesa? Mesa is HUGE and if she lives on the farthest east end of town, then it could easily be a 30-45 minute drive to Tempe which borders Mesa on the West, or Scottsdale to the Northwest.

That address is in Dobson Ranch(You might want to delete the address from a public site by the way). If they like Italian I'd recommend Tutti Santi(just recommended on the ravioli thread as well). It's right up the street from where the are and one of my favorite places in this area.
