X2O, The Boathouse, or Buffet de la Gare for special Mom's birthday?

Deciding between these three for a milestone birthday. Any outright winner? It's would be for this coming Saturday or Sunday if that makes a difference.

I'm also open to any other suggestions.

Thanks!

Definitely Buffet de la Gare if you want to enjoy your occasion.

They are both wonderful, but different. X20 is gorgeous, and with the very pretty views on the River, a very special evening. Buffet de la Gare is delicious, cozy and warm. It might depend the time of day. I'd take noon at X20. If i'ts a rainy night, I'd chose the warmth of Buffet de la Gare. If it's a sunny fall afternoon, evening, I might chose X20. But for a winter evening, Buffet de la Gare. Both food is excellent. Buffet de la Gare more traditional. X20 more cutting edge.

On such short notice, it may come down to where you can get a reservation.

I haven't been to the Boathouse, but from the reviews I've read, though it sounds nice, I doubt it's as special occasion-y as X2O. (Other CHs may correct me if I'm wrong!) I recently went back to X2O for an anniversary and was grateful for how special they made our night. Make sure to note that it's a special occasion when you make the reservation. There were several birthdays the night we were there-- including a celebration for a very spry 90 year old man-- and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves.

I agree with I eat a lot of ice cream - X20 is a truly special experience. That being said, the food at Buffet de la Gare is great French - beautiful place, but I think they tend to go the extra mile more at X20. I have not been to the Boathouse. Where is it?

Ossining... I know there have been some positive reviews here, and the NYT reviewed it a while ago. http://www.nytimes.com/2009/05/24/nyr...

Well, you may have your answer. Buffet de la Gare is rated Excellent. I don't think they're reviewed X20.
