SF Hounds need your final answer
We are headed to NYC in a few weeks. I have made some reservations. Our line up includes(dinners):
LIttle Owl
Perilla
Yasuda(for lunch)
Red Cat
Pearl
Al di La(tentative)
We will also be spending time on Arthur Avenue in the Bronx so will hit Otto Zero Nevo for lunch.
Now for the question:
We will be celebrating our first wedding anniversary while there. We had thought about Luppa but were very underwhelmed by Babbo on our last visit. We also were not crazy about Scarpetta which had just opened. We made reservations this time for Dell'Anima. Part of the allure is it is a neighborhood place and a ten minute walk from where we will be staying.
Has anyone eaten there lately?)Dell'Anima) How was it?

I'm not a fan of Del'Anima, but I am a very big Babbo fan, so you may want to take my opinion with a grain of salt. That being said, I adore Lupa, and think it is actually a great value for Italian. I recently had dinner at Scarpetta, and while I adored the pastas I did find them overpriced. If you can get a Lupa reservation, that would be my rec. Al di La which you have also listed is another one of my favorites, but obviously we would have to move over to the outer borough board for further discussion....

I'm sorry to hear that you were not crazy about Scarpetta. We've had dinner there twice, and I thought the food was superb. Haven't been to Dell'Amina.
Went to Red Cat once and was rather underwhelmed.
Pearl, of course, does not take reservations. I've heard waits can be very long at dinner. We went there for a late lunch and had no wait. Loved the lobster roll.

re: RGR
Thanks~We are hitting Red Cat on night of our arrival and can walk there. We have eaten there on two prior trips to NYC and liked it. We did a taste comparison between Pearl and Mary's Fish Camp lobster rolls on one visit and went with Pearl overall. That's what we'll be having and maybe a bowl of their clam chowder.
