Brunch in the gramercy area

Does anyone have any recs for a brunch place close to 18th st and 2nd ave? This area seems pretty devoid of nice brunch/lunch options.

  1. I don't live in area, but I think these may be OK brunch suggestions:

    Friend of a Farmer
    Irving Mill
    Pete's Tavern
    Barbounia (20th/park) for a twist..

    1. we live in the area. for brunch, we usually go to joe jr's, the smith, craftbar or veselka. emp has a very fancy brunch that's very good but expensive. if it's nice out, we'll take a walk down to five points and sit at the bar (best place to have brunch there). stay away from friend of the farmer. it sucks.

3rd vote for The Smith. I'd stay away from petes tavern.

The Joe Jr's on Third Ave @16th Street is kind of a greasy spoon...I wouldn't seek it out for brunch. I also have not heard good things about Friend of the Farmer and Pete's is interesting for historical reasons only.

Kellari Parea (20th St. btw B'way and Park Ave So) has a nice brunch for $15.95...a little bit of walk but not bad.
