Trying to find high-end drip coffeemaker in Montreal, no luck
So I'm looking to buy a very high-end drip coffeemaker as a wedding gift.
None of the highest-rated models on CoffeeGeek seem to be available from Mtl. retailers, online or storefront.
Does anyone know where I can find a really good selection of top-end coffeemakers?
I know about the places that sell $2000 espresso machines, as well as places like Centre de Rasoir that sell Braun/Krups-type appliances.
If you have time to spare you can order online and get it delivered. That's what I did for my espresso machine.
I am told the Technivorm machines with thermal carafes are the best drip machines, but I know only of two in Montreal: one is a friend's and the other is at Café Myriade! Maybe you can phone Café Myriade to ask where they got theirs.
I looked for the Technivorm once and found it at only one Canadian source - maybe things have changed, but it was Transcend Coffee in Edmonton:
It's expensive, but it's the *only* drop coffeemaker Cook's Illustrated found worthwhile because it's the only one they tested that could get the water hot enough for optimal brewing.
I would recommend Capresso. After drooling over one at a friend's house as I savored an exceptional cup of coffee, my wife bought me a Capresso machine with built-in grinder. It makes the best drip coffee I've ever had. They make models without the grinder, and models that brew directly into a thermal carafe. I think they have an online store. www.capresso.com
