Danville, VA - place for lunch

My Motorcycle Club (mostly older professional types) is riding to Danville in a few Sundays, any suggestion for lunch?

actually, if you CAN get into the track (some events are closed to spectators), they have a good restaurant on site. a little pricey, but good. The Oak Tree Tavern is the name, I think, in an old plantation house.

Ya, unfortunately, there isn't much in Danville (in my opinion). We go up there a lot to race at VIR, so have tried to find something decent there. I agree with TerryG that Joe and Mimma's is very good (the only decent place we've found). There is always a wait on weekends though (dinner anyway), just be forewarned.

Short Sugar's was just ok for me (went once, so not sure I can conclusively comment). I do like the name though. :)

we like the Mexican place Los Tres Magueyes, but it's nothing special. your typical mexican.

Also, be sure to check operating times. Many places are closed on Sundays.

btw, if you haven't been to VIR (Virginia International Raceway), you should go check it out while you're there (it's in Milton, NC, right down the road). It's a gorgeous facility and does a lot of motorcycle races/events as well as auto sports (what we do).

A good home-style cafeteria in Danville is Mary's.

Nothing exciting in Danville, but for a reasonable Italian non-chain meal, check out

          Joe and Mimma's
          3336 Riverside Dr

For bar-b-que, some people like Short Sugar's though it is a chain.

How many Short Sugar's locations are there? 2? Does that make a "chain"?

Hmmm. Didn't realize there were only 2. Definitely worth checking out for folks into Q.
