Saturday night
Any half way decent restaurants open on Saturday nights these days? It's for a birthday dinner. Thanks!

We went to Sushi Metsuyan in LI for my a birthday in the spring- it was really good- but you need a reservation.
If you're a large group, Cafe Venezia might take a reservation for upstairs. The food is not as great as when it first opened, but it's still good.
If atmosphere is not super important, I would say definitely Cafe Napoli in Brooklyn. Not expensive, great food, and large portions- everything is made for sharing. Perfect if you're going with a bunch of people.

Cafe Hadar has great food, but last time we went there I left really pissed off. We were a table of four, and we all ordered omlettes. The waitress wrote down our orders... and they all came wrong three times. After the third time, she wouldn't send the order back to the kitchen. Kind of annoying...
