Ad blockers and other video impediments

Hi, I've had a few queries about our video player and ad blockers, and just wanted to post some information about it for everyone who has problems.

Ad blockers can disable the Flash player that our videos are shown in. Usually, if you've downloaded and installed an ad blocker, you should get a small play button that you can hit to get the player to appear. It is also possible, however, that your computer is disabling 3rd party cookies. Apparently our ad proxy lives on a different domain (cbs.com) than chow.com
and relies on cookies (as cbs.com is a 3rd party domain for chow.com). So if your cookies are not set, the ad proxy fails to give an ad, which makes the player not to play the content.

The good news from our engineering team is that they are looking for some workarounds for this situation. But our video player engineers cannot tell when that might happen. In the meantime, if you want to see the videos, you might try watching on the hub: http://www.chow.com/videos

If that's not working for you either, then you may have a cookie problem. If you want further help, email me at Meredith.Arthur@chow.com and I'll try to set you up with an engineer on this end.

Thanks for watching our videos, all!

Meredith of CHOW
