montreal for a day

I'm going to be in Montreal starting this Saturday morning for about 24 hours of Canadian fun. Looking for some ideas regarding where to grab lunch / dinner / drinks at night. First time in town and I have NO CONCEPT of anywhere to go, so some touristy stuff may be okay if they really are places that you "have to go". Lunch should probably be a quicker time frame since we're going to be seeing the city but dinner can be a sit down (moderately priced if possible). Mixed group so ideas for clubs / bars can include ideas for both the dancers and the drinkers, but since we're in town for only a night we would appreciate not sitting on line for 2 hours to get into some hot club.

ALSO, don't know where we're staying, but i imagine that it will be near city center (is there a city center?) and we will have car access during the day but have no designated driver access at night.

all places don't need to be large group specific because we're more than willing to split.

Thanks for the help.

well where exactly in the city will you be staying? I'm assuming you'll be in the core downtown area but that alone is still very vast. For quick lunch, chinatown wouldn't be a bad bet and dinner would be somewhere in the plateau, but then again, it really depends on where you live and if you're willing to travel

In Montreal, you 'll be within a short cab ride of most fun areas; you could stay downtown and cab it to the mile end or plateau area, st laurent for clubs etc...
