steakman55 Sep 9, 2009 05:30 PM

Coming to town with my 17 yr. old daughter for B'way trip. She is pretty adventuresome and we like all kinds of food. Price not an issue. Any thoughts??

dbBistro Moderne, on 44th St., b/t 5th & 6th Avs., is one of 4-star Chef Daniel Boulud's restaurants. At db, he is serving contemporary French bistro cuisine. Needless to say, the food's delicious. Service is excellent, and the modern decor is jazzy.

My suggestion: get away from Times Square. Most of the Times Square places are made for tourists or are chains. Walk over to Hells Kitchen 9th and 10th Ave for an excellent and adventurous dining experience. There are lots of Hells Kitchen restaurant recomendations on this board.

Uncle Nick's for Greek Tapas (in hell's kitch)!

Good food & the jalapeno / cucumber margarita is a winner.

We were just in that neck of the woods for a show and had to decide between our four pre-theater standabys:
-DB (already covered by RGR above)
-Molyvos, high end greek with excellent service
-Trattoria Dell Arte - above average italian. And while you can do better elsewhere, they do (in our opinion) serve the best bone in veal chop parmagiana you can get in the city. It's pounded to 1/4 inch thick, lightly breaded with just the right amount of sauce and cheese... and it easily serves two.

            -Esca for italian seafood

For what it's worth, we ended up at Molvos and had another excellent meal.

Edited to add: I just realized your username and thought I should throw in a steak option... Quality Meats is probably the best bet for steak in the neighborhood.

Molyvos looks great. Greek happens to be one of our favorite cuisines. BTW, we are going to BLT Prime Saturday, so that will take care of the steak for this trip. thanks for the tip.

                Steakman,
Good choice on BLT Prime, in my view it's better than Quality Meats, I just wasn't sure how far from the Theater District you were willing to go.

Please let us know how you enjoyed your meals.

I highly recommend Marseille (W. 44th St. & 9th Ave.). I've had excellent meals there.
