You're not far from the Eagle - the original gastro pub - and all the delights Exmouth market has to offer (icluding Moro, but that's not English). Nearer is St John - not been there, but I've always wanted to, and by all accounts it's the best of British. If the weather is good they also have a bar on the rooftop - the bar downstairs is also good for cocktails. Lounge Lover just off Bethnal Green Road is a fantastic place for drinks/cocktails - a gorgeous room.
