New and noteworthy in South 'burbs or NW IN?

I'm coming home for another visit, and was wondering if there are any new places opened in the last year or so in the South Suburbs or NW IN that I could take Mom to. Open to all cuisines and price points, as long as it's good food.

Also, any more rumors about a relocation or reopening of Phil Smidt's? I had seen reports in various places that the owners were looking to reopen in another location (one report said "somewhere near Cabella's Outfitters in Hammond"), and I've seen occasional news items since on the possibility, but nothing solid. I was wondering if that possibility is now dead, or if it's still in play.
