Movie moments in food
I'm trying to put together a list of family films that have food moments. (This is for a party.) The more current the films - kid-centric is good - the better. My kids are all grown up and moved away so I'm no longer in touch with newer kid films. Animated is good, as are any films that would be suitable for entire families.
In my generation it would have been something like the spaghetti scene from Lady and the Tramp or the "spoonful of sugar" song from Mary Poppins. But that's pretty much as far as it goes. Any newer suggestions out there?
although generally avoid kid-centric or animated movies, i LOVED Ratatouille. it doesn't have a food moment, the whole movie is about food! love.

"An American Tail: Fievel Goes West"
It's about eating mice.
And very funny. Jimmy Stewart steals the show.

There's a wonderful Japanese animator name Hayao Miyazaki who has made a lot of kid-centric movies, many of which have been redubbed in English. There's one in particular called "Spirited Away", in which a 10-year-old girl and her parents are moving to the suburbs. On the way they are sidetracked and they wander into what appears to be a deserted market/restaurant area. All the little eateries have tons of delicious-looking food set out, and the parents sit down and and make pigs out of themselves, while the girl begs them to leave. The parents promptly turn into pigs. The girl spends most of the rest of the movie working to restore them to their normal selves. It's a great movie, one I'm planning to introduce my little boy to when he's a bit older. The food scene is so well animated, you can smell everything the parents are eating. I'm betting kids will love their transformation into pigs. :-)
