Hi guys, I’m looking for recommendations to take a date tonight somewhere in the Hollywood area.
My date is somewhat of a foodie and I’m looking for a nice place where is the food is good and we can have a nice conversation. I’m looking to spend about $100 for both of us

$100 for both, incl. tax, bev & tip? For a foodie in H'wood? Those parameters are a little tough.

Try Street, Chef Feniger's new place 742 N. Highland Ave, but don't expect street-food prices.

      Lou on Vine
      Animal (bar seat)
      Umami Burger
      P Mozza (bar seat)
      Chameau
      Loteria
      Hungry Cat

He's looking for somewhere to go TONIGHT, so taking big chances he'll even get a bar seat unless he goes right when they open (Animal & P Mozza).

Respectfully disagree, pluv. I bar-seat at these places all the time
There may be a wait at Animal for a bar seat, 50/50 chance, I would say. Not the busiest week with the holiday ending.
There will definitely be a wait at PMozza, 30-40 mins, usually.
So what? Nice time to meet and talk on a date, I think. At Animal they can cross the street and try a great Golden State beer. At PM a drink at OM's bar or just take in the crowd from a bench out front.

I see what you're saying, I just don't like rec'ing a place for someone's who's never been, and then their expectations are blown by things they didn't expect, as in NOWHERE to wait at P. Mozza, except outside on the dirty sidewalk. If there's a clean bench, great. Wouldn't have assumed you could go into O. Mozza and sit at the bar, while waiting for your table next door. Maybe they're okay with that, maybe they prefer to keep their bar seats open for patrons waiting to eat there.

It's just as well, that you fleshed it out a little for them, letting them know where they can wait it out, but again, if you cross the street to G-State for a beer, chances are someone else will take those two open bar seats as soon as they open up, esp at a place as popular as Animal.

That's all I'm sayin'. If I were a guy taking a lady out on a date, I wouldn't leave shit like that to chance, unless I know she's okay with waiting around. But I know how a lot of men hate to plan anything in advance, not sure why, but there it is.

$100 is rough amount, dont mind spending more. Without Bev & Tip.
