Looking for Best BBQ between Charlotte and Greenville

Ideally off I-85; we're driving from the Charlotte airport toward Greenville (end destination: Traveler's Rest, SC) and are in search for some messy, delicious and SMOKEY Southern BBQ - thank you for your help!!

    My advice would be Bridges BBQ Lodge in Shelby. Its on Highway 74, only about 10 or 15 minutes off I-85. Well worth the detour.
