Spent a couple of nights in Asheville this past weekend, mainly to go to the street festival on Lexington Ave. There were 5 of us and we had two wonderful dinners on Saturday and Sunday. First, was Fig. I don't recall everything everyone had, but I ate a marvelous salmon filet with fingerling potatoes. The wife had trout. Everything was very well done and the service was very welcoming and efficient without being intrusive. Highly recommend.
Sunday night we went to Zambras which was also terrific. Despite the fact that the restaurant was quite busy, the noise level was not bad at all. I hate those "high energy" places!
We had a bunch of tapas plates. grilled scallops, scallops with orange and capers, sauteed mushrooms with sweet potato wontons, sauteed chickpeas and a marvelous plate of sweetbreads. All served up with a bottle of Tempranillo recommended by our waiter and it went beautifully with the evening.
