I've been to Pair twice, both times a coupe years ago, but seeing as you're otherwise striking out, I'll try to remember... (now if only I was one of those folks who could whip out a few relevant food pics ....).
Anyway, went once with a group of 5 or 6. None of us felt like spending too much or eating too much and I remember enjoying my fairly simple main - possibly it was vegetarian. Some other folks ordered two apps. There was some wine. It was a nice evening.
I went back for more of a dinner with SO and found it fairly pricey for what it was. The mains were mostly game and, well, it turns I don't like game that much. If you do, then you might well be happy there. The server warned us it would be very rare, and it was. One funny thing I remember was that we were seated up on a raised platform and SO's chairleg was about one inch from the edge - we were pretty tense about that most of the night. Lots of people in the neighbourhood speak quite highly of it, but for the $$ I think I'd rather hit La Buca or give La Quercia another try.

I haven't been to any of them. One of the regulars here (was it starlady?) likes Pair Bistro.
