Song to Pie by Roy Blount, Jr.

    Pie.
    Oh my.
    Nothing tastes sweet,
    Wet, salty and dry
All at once so well as pie.
Apple and pumpkin and mince and black bottom,
I’ll come to your place every day if you’ve got ‘em.
    Pie.

While I appreciate Mr. Blount's particular pie tastes, I'm actually looking for fruit pies: blueberry, strawberry (with or without rhubarb), apple, blackberry, even peach ... If it's not too much to ask for a traditional, flaky crust. Served warm. Maybe even a scoop of ice cream.

Anything north of TriBeCa, south of Columbus Circle, would be ideal. If it's really great pie, though, anywhere in Manhattan will do.

Where do I find a great slice of pie in this town?

Pie is a serious problem in this town. We talk about it regularly. Only restaurant I know with decent pie (and they are pretty good) is Bubby's in Tribeca. For GREAT pie, you have to get someone on eastern LI to bring you a pie from Briermere Farms in RIverhead.
