Akasaka Japanese restaurant - Omakase ?

Just wondering who has tried the omakase of Akasaka Japanese restaurant in Richmond Hill ? The price is at par with the famous Kaji - $80, $100 or $120 ! Wonder what they serve in the omakase with such a pricing. Akasaka is an expensive restaurant which serves item such as A5 Wagyu beef from Japan. I usually only visit them for the Teppanyaki, which I found is one of the best in Toronto. Their other cooked items and sushi are more fusion style which I found the quality is not quite up there.

Akasaka does not pop to my mind when I think omakase. They have been there for a long time but I never found their sushi/sashimi to be worthy of their price point. It is a pricey place for the 'not bad, pretty good' sushi that is available. Teppanyaki is pretty good but again for that price and 'sameness', more of a 'take some visiting friends for something different' kind of thing. Solo up in Newmarket if you don't mind going another 15 minutes up the highway would be a way better choice and better price too if there is nothing mind blowing in the house (i.e. blue fin). I haven't found any place in Richmond Hill that really comes to mind for omakase. If anyone knows a place, please lead us there. Charles?

Omakase in Richmond Hill?!! Only on Television!! Ha!

BTW, a few ex-chefs/cooks from Akasaka left and opened up a Japanese place on Leslie just north of 16th. Unfortunately, they picked a 'wasteland' and the place, I noticed two days ago, was closed!

I have been to Solo a few times and tried their Omakase a few times, find it ok. Sushi is inconsistent. Teppanyaki is good at Akasaka, can't think of a better choice in Toronto, actually is not too pricey such as the set meal for 4 which consists of 2 whole lobster, Angus beef, shrimp, fish, scallop, a whole dungeness crab, etc for a less than $200 buck with enough food for 5 people, not a bad deal.

I liked Akasaka in Richmond Hill, but the last time I went there was probably around 5 years ago. No idea how it's different now.
