Cape Cod and Clancy's Beach Bar - avoid
After a day of errands with Mom and daughter Mom wanted lunch. We all were craving fried clams and decided to try Clancy's Beach Bar on Upper Co Rd. Upon entering we had the feeling it was more a college drinking spot. Looks like a fun place to have a cold one and popcorn. Our server was gorgeous and very patient while we plodded thru the menu. Honestly I suddenly had a bad vibe so Mom and I opted for the clam chowder and fish cake platter. My teen wanted Buffalo Tenders. The chowder was thick like paste but actually pretty ok. They used red bliss potatoes which I prefer. I am not sure there were any clams in my cup. If so, they were microscopic.
Mom and my teen loved the fries. The rest of the meal was so bad we left it. I had one tender and it was horrid. We did tell Diana the fish cakes were inedible and the manager credited our bill. Total cost 32.25 with tip for two cups not bowls of chowder, tenders, 2 sodas and one beer. YUCK....meanwhile there is an 11 mile back up at the bridge.
I have avoided Clancy's for FOOD at all locations for the last 6 years. It is vile. I enjoy going for a drink, but never food.
Thanksgiving weekend, we are at our home on the cape, and put the relatives up at The Cove in West Yarmouth. Every year, someone will make the mistake of going to Clancy's eventhough they have been forewarned. Lots of money for bad food.
But relax, The season is almost over, downhill til after Columbus Day. We start coming up weekends from Thanksgiving until Easter. No crowds, no traffice, much better service in the restaurants, and the prices nosedive.
