Please let me know if you have any "cherished" Buttercream recipes that you love. I'm new to cake decorating and looking for great recipes that have great texture and flavor.

You should get a copy of "The Cake Bible" by Rose Levy Beranbaum. It has a very nice recipe for classic buttercream, with variations. The book also has tons of useful tips. I cannot recommend it highly enough !

I second this! I pulled out my tattered copy just yesterday, because I need to make a three-tiered cake next weekend. Her buttercream with corn syrup is absolutely fool-proof, and though corn syrup has been getting a bad rap lately, I will certainly use it for this cake as I can't be bothered to have anything go wrong at the last minute. Also, her conversion tables are very helpful.
