Le Grande Orange qualifies as a bistro and it's an easy walk from your hotel - 4 blocks due west. Go out the door of the Hilton and turn left; walk one block to DelMar and turn right; 4 blocks to Raymond and turn right. The restaurant is just south of Old Town so you could walk back to your hotel on Colorado.
It's got a mix of food all quite good - from proper entrees to salads and burgers, reasonably priced. Love their Brussel Sprout entree salad. It's in a converted train station so it has a bit of an old California feel and you can sit outside or in. The address is 260 S. Raymond Avenue Pasadena, CA * 626-356-4444 Welcome to Pasadena and have fun wherever you go.

re: Fru
It will be four adults, but one person very "meat and potatoes" type of eater. Looking for a moderately priced maybe bistro type of place, but not "cheap eats" for sure. Isn't there a really good Spanish place in Pasadena? I am trying to recall the places in Pasadena getting some "best of" attention too.

I think you can walk to Smitty's. They have their own spin on American classics. Also, Parkway Grill and Arroyo Chophouse which are all Smith Brothers restaurants. They all have meat and potatoes as well as fish and veggie options. www.smithbrothersrestaurants.com There are great threads on Pasadena as well. I will defer to others suggestions as I have to go now!
