Help with braised spare ribs

I put a dry rub on yesterday, now what should I braise them in?
I do not want to use a tomato sauce. Please any help would be greatly appreciated!
I would like to put them in the oven asap as I have a house full of company coming and would like to get the done earlier today.

    check out anne burrells recipe. its for short ribs but im sure its interchangeable for spareribs... http://www.delish.com/recipes/cooking...
