Highlight of my summer was Sierra Kellerweis.
Last night at my beer guy, I fully intended to get some more, but after seeing all the October/Pumpkin/Fall beers, I ended up with Brooklyn October, which I didn't try yet (not cold yet) and Sierra Torpedo, which is just an all year winner. Anyway, I'm heading to some bbq's this weekend and I typically bring two sixers so that I have something good to drink and I can help spread the gospel...
Should I cling to the summer, or embrace the fall?
Caveat--my beer guy had the Dogfish pumpkin, but I think my wife would have killed me had I purchase two 6 packs and a 4 pack for 33 bucks. Brooklyn October was $8.99--not bad...4 pack of Dfish = $11.99. Is each of those beers worth 3 bucks a pop? Absolutley, I'll get it next time.

I would take the weather into account. If it's feeling like fall this week where you live, swing toward the Oktoberfest and pumpkin beers. I'm not a big lager drinker, but I really love Oktoberfestbier in the fall.

Around here (DC) it's been a bit cooler this week, but I see higher temps are coming back soon.

I couldn't tell you why but here in the forgotten borough Spaten Oktoberfest is available year round on tap in local bars so many drink it all year including me. As for the upcoming flood I already succumbed to an on sale impulse buy of SA which is even more bland than usual but at least was exceedingly fresh, I imagine Brooklyn's is similar with a little more depth? My favorite beer this summer was Hive Honey Stung Ale from Four + Brewing in Utah... those Mormon's have been holding out on us.

I picked up a case of Spaten O'fest at Costco for $21. Hard to beat that price for a classic of the style.

I wasn't particularly excted by Brooklyn O'fest, but it might be bc I've turned into a hophead. Come to think of it, I wasn't too thrilled with Brklyn Summer either.
Caveat: I had the O'fest it in the same sitting as Torpedo IPA--I'll try it alone to truly assess it.
I ended up brining a 6'er of Torpedo + a 6'er of Kellerweis to the party. Both were appreciated. There was a ton of Sam O'fest but I didn't try it. I think I had 5 of the 6 kellerweises...Someone brought a case of Magic Hat Fall mix--I don't remember the names of the beers I had, but some of them were prety good ...

My second Oktoberfest of the season is Blue Point... fresh and malty and would taste better if it was actually nippy outside.
