Thanks for the rec, I'm wondering, have you been to Bar Vespa lately? I read on another site that it is closed down and I could not find a telephone # for them?

uh-oh. i know they were open as of July, but places are closing left, right & center. try the number i have for them: 212.737.3242

I called the # and it sounds like they are closed!, no answering machine or anything, it just said "the subscriber you have called is unavailable" . Thanks for your help!

            bummer. sorry!

    2. Not sure how late the kitchen is open but Uptown (3rd b/t 88 & 89) is a bit more of a grown up scene than the other UES bars, but I wouldn't call it frou frou either.

      1. Cavatappo Wine Bar is on 90th and 2nd. Has a small plates menu. Food was decent. Wine selection by the glass is great.
BB&R is on 2nd betw. 89th/90th. More of a sports bar. Think wings and beers.

I wonder how Parlor would be? Seems great in terms of location, and I do like the bar area, but am not sure how late they serve food.

          1. Hey guys! Just wanted to say thanks for all the recs, we ended up hitting up a couple of great places on 3rd Ave. just North of 82nd. The first place was a great wine/cheese bar called Pudding Stones(they have another location on the UWS and are opening up a 3rd in downtown), great selection of wine, the bartender was very helpful and the cheese was great! Juan(the wine-guy) told us to check out the Irish bar next door called Dylan Murphy's, small and clean and very nice staff! Good cocktails to! At Dylan Murphy's we met some people at the bar, we asked them where we could go for a quick tasty bite to eat and they brought us across the street to their bar that they owned called Back Page, it's a sports bar but very good bar food! We ordered jalapeno poppers and it came out with delicious chicken wings and mozzarella sticks. The staff and owner was great. This was the best night of our trip, we had good, cheap food and the people were great as well! Thanks for all of your help!
